CONCERT CHOIR (13-21 YEARS)

Chœur des enfants de Montréal

Hoping to welcome you to our auditions!

You must Email us to register because the number of spots are limited, due to social distancing.

Rehearsals: NDG Community Centre or on Zoom (depending on the public health regulations)

Schedule: Wednesday from 7:15 pm – 9 pm and every third Sunday from 1 pm – 3:30 pm

Annual Fees:  $560 per year (September to June) – reduced from $610 because the weekend camp in the autumn, partially subsidized by these fees, will be cancelled in 2020.

The Concert Choir is CEM’s most advanced ensemble. It selects choristers who wish to be part of a high level group and to work on complex repertoire. Choristers will be selected through an audition process during which their vocal capacity and musical knowledge will be evaluated.

The Concert Choir performs in two annual CEM concerts, accompanied by professional musicians. They also perform in the annual Earth Hour concert and in various other concerts and festivals.

By exploring ambitious repertoire in a friendly atmosphere, choristers develop their:

  • vocal technique
  • proficiency in music theory and rhythms
  • ability to read a complex music score
  • capacity to sing in harmony (two to six parts)
  • team spirit
  • stage presence
  • ability to perform in a professional context
  • ability to sing by heart in different languages

Each week, choristers will receive an online assignment to do or a list of lyrics to memorize. Choristers should spend between 5 and 30 minutes on this homework each week.

Criteria:

  • participate in the auditions (date to be determined). Please contact us to schedule an audition.
  • register (form and payment) before the first rehearsal on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.

Concert Attire:

  • Either a concert dress to purchase from CEM
  • Or black pants and black shirt, to be purchased
